I remember seeing myself in a picture……my heart sank, and I instantly felt like I was going to burst into tears. I had not realized how big I had gotten. Up until then, I had successfully avoided being in pictures by offering to be the one to take the picture, politely declining being in the picture, hid behind someone or quietly snuck away from the group. Like many others, I have struggled with my weight since my pregnancy with my daughter. The pounds came on fast and easy but taking them off after my daughter was born felt impossible. It did not seem to matter that I was eating a “balanced diet” full whole grains, brown rice, fresh fruits, yogurt, vegetables, protein, etc., I was constantly hungry and never felt “satisfied”. I would beat myself up emotionally because I felt like there was something wrong with me as a person. My skinny friend would give me advice on how to lose weight as I was watching her eat a 7 -layer burrito with a side of nacho chips. I finally just gave up and settled into my size 22 pants. I finally stopped weighing myself after I hit 244 lbs. on the scale. I felt helpless and defeated.
Years later, I saw a friend of ours who is a doctor in Wyoming. I was stunned when I saw how amazing he looked. He shared that he lost weight using a doctor-supervised low fat, low carbohydrate diet that he offered at his clinic. My husband, Dr. Dave, and I decided to give it a try. I have truly never felt so good in my life!! I did not have the constant craving for sugar and carbs anymore!! I did not have the sweaty, shaky, starving feeling an hour after I ate! I finally felt in control of my food instead of food controlling me. I had more energy than I have EVER had before, and I was losing weight consistently! My acid reflux stopped, and I was able to discontinue using Protonix. My husband’s blood pressure had been borderline but was now normal. His triglycerides before the program were 322 and had dropped to 55 after he completed the program. The program helped me truly understand that so much of my problem was an insulin problem rather than a problem with my character or lack of willpower. Although the carbs I was eating were mostly “good carbs”, I learned that I was sensitive to carbohydrates and that even eating good carbs kept me hungry and craving more carbs. I also learned new tools on how to deal with cravings and stress. We began offering this low fat, low carbohydrate protocol in our clinic in Casper, Wyoming and our dieters lost over 72,000 pounds over an 8-year period! We became the top weight loss clinic in the city. I had the privilege of helping hundreds of people through their weight loss journey and am so EXCITED to open our new weight loss clinic at Trinity Chiropractic.
Obesity has truly become the “elephant in the room” epidemic. We all know it is there, we do not want to address it and we put blinders on to the true magnitude of the problem. The rates of obesity for both adults and children in the United States is staggering. CDC statistics show approximately 42.4% of Americans are obese (1.). Obesity increases your risk for many health issues including heart disease, stroke, type 2 diabetes, osteoarthritis, some cancers, and early death. One study found that the lifetime societal and public health cost of obesity is “on average $92,235 per person when compared with the costs associated with a person of normal weight.” (2.) COVID-19 has drawn extra attention to the risks of being obese. Not only is the extra weight a risk factor, the many health issues accompanying obesity are also risk factors. A Kaiser study showed that severe obesity boosts risk of COVID death, especially for younger people (3.) Morbidly obese COVID-19 patients are “60% more likely to die or require intubation, compared with people of normal weight, researchers found.” (4.) Experts are now raising a red flag that the COVID-19 vaccine will likely be less effective in obese people (5.) We are at a crucial time in our history. There are no vaccines, proven treatments, or cures for COVID-19. The best defense for fighting this virus is your own health, habits, and head space. We can no longer walk around the elephant in the room.
Obesity not only affects a person’s health. It effects a person’s self-esteem, personal relationships, employment, and mental health. One study showed that people who were obese had a 55% greater chance of developing depression compared to people who were not obese (6.) People who are obese receive lower salaries in jobs, are ranked as less qualified and worked longer hours than people who are not obese (7). Weight discrimination is alive and well and will continue to get worse. Employers see the relationship between obesity and health issues and know that this can cost the company lost money, time, and productivity.
Whether you want to lose 10 pounds or 150 pounds, there has never been a better time than now to take control of your health and your life!! We are so excited to lead you on a journey that will lead to better health, increased self-esteem, improved relationships, and quality of life. YOU ARE WORTH IT!

Yes, this protocol is medically developed and is ONLY offered through healthcare professionals.
Our program is a medically developed program that has 4 phases. Phase 1 and 2 focus on weight loss. Phase 3 and 4 concentrate on gradually reintroducing you to healthy eating choices while also finding your carbohydrate tolerance level. Due to genetics and activity level, some people are more carbohydrate sensitive than others. The program is a partial meal replacement program that helps target fat loss while maintaining muscle mass. We will also be helping you fine tune your micronutrition with high quality supplements to help you feel your best!
Our program is incredibly affordable. You will be purchasing some foods through the clinic that will take the place of your regular meals which will replace some of your grocery budget. Often, people find they SAVE money as they are not eating out as much, not drinking alcohol and not grabbing impulse items at the store. In addition, many people find they can work with their prescribing physicians to work their way off certain medications which often saves our clients thousands of dollars. The cost of the program includes your weekly coaching sessions, food, and vitamins.
Yes, you will meet with a coach weekly. They will be your #1 cheerleader, source of support and education through this journey. They will continue to support you during maintenance. Your coach has also successfully completed the program. Your coach will weigh you, measure you, track body fat%, review your food journal, discuss challenges, how to handle social events and coach you through the different phases of the program.
David Iszler, D.C. oversees the weight loss program at Trinity Chiropractic and is always available for collaboration and questions. In addition, he reviews every health profile to screen clients for the program. He has had 8 years of experience overseeing this protocol and has completed the protocol himself.
Yes, this program is a ketogenic diet. However, most people know ketogenic diets as being high fat. This program is low fat, low carbohydrate and ensures you are getting your micro nutritional needs met and is considered a nutritional ketogenic program. “Nutritional ketosis has been found to improve metabolic and inflammatory markers, including lipids, HbA1c, high-sensitivity CRP, fasting insulin and glucose levels, and aid in weight management.” (8). In addition, nutritional ketosis helps promote weight loss, decrease hunger, and increase satiety.
Ketosis is a normal metabolic state in which your body uses fat and ketones rather than glucose (sugar) as its main fuel source. For most people, ketogenic programs are entirely safe. In fact, ketogenic diets have been used since the early 1900’s to manage epilepsy (8). “Recent work over the last few decades has provided evidence for the therapeutic potential of ketogenic diets in many pathological conditions, including diabetes, PCOS, acne, neurologic diseases (epilepsy, Alzheimer’s, CVA), cancer, and the amelioration of respiratory and cardiovascular disease risk factors” (8). There are a few medical contraindications for the program. Your coach and Dr. Iszler will thoroughly review your health profile to ensure you are a good candidate for the program.
We have different protocols available based on your activity level. You do not have to exercise to lose weight on this program, although an important part of our program will be to discuss strategies, ideas, and goals for getting in movement and exercise. Studies have shown “’participants on ketogenic diets have a tendency to maintain lean body mass with preferential loss of fat mass, independent of exercise” (8).
Your coach will continue to meet with you to help you “fine tune” your maintenance routine, troubleshoot any problems and support you while you get used to new eating habits. Remember, there is no diet, including ours, that you can resume your former way of eating and not gain the weight back. It is important to stay diligent using your new tools, ideas, coping strategies, movement habits and healthy recipes to maintain your new lifestyle.
Give us a call to schedule your initial consultation. Plan on a 60-90 minute appointment. During this appointment, we will review your health profile, review any current medications, review your current diet, review our diet protocol in detail, get your current weight, measurements, and body fat percentage. We will also be taking your “Before” picture, assist you in picking out your foods and answer any questions. We are available by e-mail or phone throughout your journey to wellness.
